  Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services can cost you from several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars PER MONTH.  Your goal is simple; steadily move you up on Google (dependent upon specific search criteria) and make your business one that stands out in your service area.  The more refined that area is, the faster you will be where you need to get on the search engines (page one!)

If you do business in a specific city, region, county or state, enhance your website to those areas.  If you do business nationwide, or worldwide, and you sell products or services that area generally available, that's where you will need to procure the services of a professional Search Engine Optimization company.

What's involved in SEO?  Having a clean website that is service or product specific.  Utilizing Meta Tags, Keywords and Descriptions that interact with your website content.  OK, so you have no idea what or where these things are when you build your site.  Your site-builder will help.  Do it yourself and you'll have to get into the HTML (or equivalent).  Here is an example using the Meta, Keywords, and Description from this website:

<html>

<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<title>Free Website Builder Help For Business, Organizations, Individuals</title>
<meta name="description" content="This site is a place one could go and get a quick overview of what it takes to get a website and professional email">
<meta name="keywords" content="Website builder help, search engine optimization SEO, Keywords, Website Description, Free Website Advice">

Looks confusing so let's break down the important parts. The Title is what you see at the top of your browser page.  Check your browser for these words (at the very top of the page) <title>Free Website Builder Help For Business, Organizations, Individuals</title>

Next is the Description.  <meta name="description" content="This site is a place one could go and get a quick overview of what it takes to get a website and professional email">  This is what it say's - a description (in your words) as to what your website is all about.  It is important that your description is actually part of those words located in your landing page (the page that comes up when someone types in your domain name).

Then there are the Keywords.  Not as important as they once were, but together, the Keywords, and Description are key to the search engines finding your website. <meta name="keywords" content="Website builder help, search engine optimization  SEO, Keywords, Website Description, Professional Email, Free Website Advice">

These are examples and yours would obviously be specific to your business.  I've seen some "crappy" websites that have first page positioning on Google and yes, it drove me crazy knowing their meta descriptions and keywords were nothing new or exciting.  They simply did a great job describing their business and making sure the backend worked along with the front-end (that part your visitors see).

On any website page, right-click then click "view source".  You will see the back-end of the site and how it's put together.  Look for competitor's who have good Google positioning and see what they are doing right!
